Arria crochet pattern 4 ply - digital or hard copy
The pattern structure is simple but effective and easy to memorise. It uses the intarsia crochet technique. With just three balls of yarn on the go throughout, it is a good beginner intarsia project.
Please note that the US version of the pattern will be uploaded very shortly. I am having difficulties with the file size and will send out an update which will include the US terminology pattern ASAP.
A kit is also available for this pattern. It includes a hard copy pattern, projects bag and all of the yarn that you need.
Pattern Tutorial: To accompany this pattern I have created a pattern tutorial. This is available through a private YouTube link that can only be accessed by people that have bought or been given the pattern for Arria.
The tutorial takes you through the notions needed, shawl construction, key stitches used in the pattern, blocking hints and getting in touch.
If you make this shawl please do upload your WIP and FO on Ravelry. It would be great to see it on Instagram too - #ArriaShawl #FayDHDesigns @faydhdesigns
Hook: 4mm (US G/6)
Time: About 20 hours
Gauge/tension: unblocked 13 sts and 12 rows over 5cm/2”. Blocked 11 sts and 10.5 rows over 5cm/2”.
Yarn: RiverKnits 4 ply Bluefaced Leicester, 400m/437yds per 100g.
Yarn A - 2 x 100g in ‘Mermaid’
Yarn B - 1 x 20g mini skein in ‘Brilliant Fuchsia’
Terminology: As with all of my crochet patterns your purchase allows you to access a PDF version with UK crochet terminology and a PDF with US crochet terminology.
Meterage: 712m/780yds of Yarn A ‘Mermaid’, 64m/70yds Yarn B ‘Brilliant Fuchsia’.
Yarn substitutes: Something with the same or very similar meterage. It can be a different blend but be aware that meterage requirements will change if you substitute yarns. I have made Arria in this suggested high-twist wool and also in a loser spun, non-superwash wool and both worked well.
Blocked dimensions: 150cm/59” for the top edge of shawl, two equal sides of 96cm/37.75” and depth of 60cm/23.5”.

Pattern format
Arria (crocheted) is an eight-page document. If you are purchasing a printed copy, it is A4 sized with large, clear text.
Weights given are approximated to provide the best estimate for postage and packaging costs only.
Pattern Pricing
I now operate a ‘pay what you can’ scale for my electronic/downloadable single patterns. I usually charge £5 for these patterns and to encourage access for all crafters, these are now available on a scale of £3 - £7 and you chose what you can afford within that scale.
Please note that this doesn’t apply to my hard copy patterns, which remain priced at £5 and come with an automatic digital download.
Product materials, sourcing and PoM Rating
This product was originated by me at Fay Dashper-Hughes Designs. I work with a local printer and they help me to source recycled paper for my patterns. This pattern is printed on paper that is manufactured using wind power,100% recycled post-consumer fibre and carbon neutral.
Postage and Packaging
You can read all about P&P here.
The P&P costs applied are very transparent. No additional costs are added on, you simply pay for the cost of packaging and the cost of postage. I don't offer free P&P because what that usually means is that the cost of P&P has been added to the cost of goods. I think it is better to assume that my customers aren't daft and would rather have transparent P&P costs than the pretence of 'Free P&P' with inflated prices on the items that they are buying.
